Clayton Ga. to Cherokee, NC.
51 miles

We have made it to our third state. It really feels like we are making
progress. We climbed our first gap today. The climb was about 4 miles
long and it gave a good feel for what the Blue ridge Pkwy will be like.
We are looking at some heavy rain for the pkwy tomorrow. I knew there
was something I liked about that place.

We rolled into Cherokee around 5pm. We hit the local Taco Bell and we
met someone interesting. James Taylor is a world record holder for
eating at the same restaurant, Taco Bell, for 388 consecutive days. That
was broken on Jan 23rd of 2007 and he has not missed a day since.
Congratulations to him. That's a lot of Tacos.

Bill Miller, cousin of Josh's father, has put us up for the night.
He lives on top of a mountain just outside of Cherokee. He hooked up a
trailer and picked us up from Taco Bell. The place is absolutely
gorgeous. We have a view of the mountains from the front porch. The cabin
is an A shaped house red and green in color. Time seems to stand still
up here. Thank you Bill

We have 80 miles of the Pkwy to cover tomorrow. To those who have
never been on the Pkwy, the roads are unbelievable in its beauty. Its
also unbelievable in its grades. The first climb will be about 11 miles
long getting above 5000 ft. The next week and a half will be the
hardest part of the entire trip. Some of you may be thinking about the Rocky
Mountains but the grades are not nearly as steep and the Appalachians.
What's special about the pkwy is that its long as any climbs in the
Rocky's but its steep because it's the Appalachians.

Wish us luck.

I also would like to thank everyone again for following my blog and
also donating to LAF.

Good Night
