Kimberly, OR to Condon, OR
65 miles

There is one thing worse than headwinds and that's going up a pass into
a headwind.  Towards the end of the day we came over what we thought
was the last pass.  We could even see Condon in the distance which was
only 13 miles away.  From top of the pass we could see Condon was
about the same elevation as the pass we were standing on.  What I
couldn't see was the road to Condon.  I didn't know if it veered all the way
around or it was hidden in the wheat fields.

After we rolled about a mile closer, we figured out what was going on.
The road went down into a canyon and brought you back out into
Condon.  Crap, we dropped 6 miles to only climb back up 6 miles.  For anyone
who knows what happens to winds when you squeeze it down into a canyon,
it produces headwinds even stronger.  As I was climbing out, I knew I
wouldn't be in town for another 90 minutes.  At one point, I was
cussing up a storm only to look around and realizing it was pointless.  I
just cracked up laughing because the situation was so ridiculous.  1 mile
at a time, Jin.

If everything goes right, we should be in the state of Washington by
tomorrow.  This will be our last state before Alaska. We're still very
far but we are really getting excited about it.

P.S.  Whew, we are pooped out!!

Good night.
Jin, Glenn, Josh
1 mile at a time...
