66 miles north of Bell 2, BC to Gnat Pass (Cassiar Hwy)
67 miles

Epic is the only word to describe today.  The day started off fine.  We
even had a rare tailwind.  At about 1pm, rain started and didn't stop
all day.  Cassiar Hwy is still under construction.  A decade ago, it
was nearly all dirt.  Today, only about 35 miles of 451 miles are dirt.
We rode 24 of it today.

Cold rain, loose gravel, mud, sand, and of course traffic to fling
pebbles at you.  Our bikes are not mountain bikes so it was a battle in
certain sections.  We were surprised when we made it out without any flats
or broken spokes.

We topped all this off with Gnat Pass, the highest point on the
Cassiar.  Actually, it's only 4100 ft high but to climb the whole thing in
dirt made it seem twice as hard.  Words will never describe how gnarly
today was.  Our bikes are filthy too. We plan to take a day off at Dease
Lake and clean up our gear and dry our soaked clothes.

Glenn was able to find a really nice spot on top of the pass to camp.
It's really cold and rainy so the views aren't so good but the bugs are
gone.

My tent is amazing.  It's an REI brand tent.  It keeps me warm, dry,
away from mosquitoes and super light.  It's about 45F outside, raining,
windy and it feels like I am in my bed.  Well, almost.

Good night.
